So friday was my birthday, so we all went out. The night started out on a weird note, and I was really hoping it wasn't portentous of the coming year. We began at what's usually one of my favorite Milwaukee watering holes, Artbar. As we walked in the door, two 30 somethign year old women swarmed towards us, and demanded $3 each for the band. Now, i usually got to ArtBar on Friday's beacuse my friend Milo is there spinning a nice mix of music spanning old new wave to current indie music. But, ok, a band, I can cope. I look over and see that that half the band mambers are sporting ponytails. OK, maybe i can't cope. Well, we're there, and many of our group hasn't shown up yet, so we cough up the funds, and make our way in. As we walked up to the bar, I looked over to the 'interactive wall' (i call it that for lack of a better term, it's a part of the bar, where you contribute to the theme of the month, like, in november, there were boxes of crayons, and you drew turkeys on paper plates to put up on the wall) and it's a poster of the American Gothic couple, with a banner asking "when do you know you're old?" across it. I think i'm starting to feel old now.
So yeah...drinks are gotten, and friends start to show up. I'd almost forgotten a band was going to be playing, and just having a good time, when the big disco ball came on, and the bands announce their presence. I didn't really pay attention to what they had to say, but in my mind, it must have been something like. "prepare to not rock Milwaukee, because here's comes the whiniest bon jovi/journey/skinnard acoustic guitar playing cover band in the world" I'm not going to discuss their music, because it's just too fresh, and it still hurts. Let's just say Bon Jovi Covers+acoustic guitars = no so rockin' Once the band started, we knew it was time to move on. So after waiting for the last of our group to get there, and hastily finishing our tasty beverages, we headed out the door. For our next destination, we decided to keep it simple, and neutral, so we went off to Triangle. Good times were had all around. Drinks were drunk, spanks were given, and shots were copious. I'm sure there's more to say about it, but things were a bit hazy by that point in the night. I'll just leave it at; i'm glad that everyone came out, and gave me a good night. can't wait till next year! :) ( more pics under the cut... )Current Mood: happy Current Itune: Special Needs-Placebo-Once More With Feeling

hey hey hey so i took a four day weekened, half because it's my birthday tomorrow, and half because i really need some time off. i really hate my job, so one of my main goals is to get my resume looking prettier, and get my lazy ass our applying... we went to Philly Way Last night, the only authentic cheesesteak join in town. i have to admit i really kinda miss the unhealthy eating that philly offered. i actully miss a lot of things about it. i'm such a flip flopper, at times i really want all a huge city like Philadelphia can offer, and others, i really enjoy the atmosphere of a medium city like Milwaukee. I guess my wanter is working overtime. ah...in my head, i had all sorts of things i wanted to say here...but now they're all gone. i took a new pic today, so i guess i can leave y'all with that.
